AboutKawir
Kawir is a geographical term that primarily refers to the Dasht-e Kavir, also known as the Great Salt Desert, a large desert located in the middle of the Iranian Plateau. It is one of the two large deserts of Iran, the other being Dasht-e Lut. The Kawir is an arid region composed mainly of salt marshes (kavirs), mud, and salt lakes, which are often dry. The landscape is characterized by its extreme aridity, high temperatures, and vast, flat expanses where evaporated moisture leaves behind a crust of salt. Due to its harsh environment, the Kawir is sparsely populated, with only a few oases and scattered settlements. The desert plays a significant role in Iran's geography, acting as a natural barrier and influencing local climate patterns. Its unique geological formations and ecological adaptations are subjects of scientific interest.
