AboutPanjim
Panjim (also known as Panaji) is the capital city of the Indian state of Goa. Situated on the left bank of the Mandovi River estuary, it is Goa's third-largest city after Vasco da Gama and Margao. Panjim is renowned for its charming Latin Quarter, Fontainhas, which features narrow streets, colorful Portuguese-style houses, and historic churches like the Immaculate Conception Church. The city's architecture reflects its Portuguese colonial heritage, with many well-preserved buildings, tree-lined avenues, and red-tiled roofs. Panjim serves as a major tourist hub, offering a blend of cultural attractions, bustling markets, and scenic riverfront views. It is also an important administrative and educational center within Goa, contributing significantly to the state's economy through tourism, trade, and government services. The city hosts the annual International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and is a gateway to many of Goa's popular beaches and inland attractions.
