Palghar is a city and a municipal council in the Palghar District of Maharashtra, India. It is located approximately 87 kilometers north of Mumbai. Historically part of the Thane district, Palghar became the administrative headquarters of the newly formed Palghar district in 2014. The city is situated on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway and is well-connected by local and long-distance trains on the Western Railway line. Palghar is known for its agricultural produce, particularly chikoo (sapodilla) and other fruits. It also has a growing industrial base, with several small and medium-sized enterprises.
